Want to see rodeo stripped down to what it’s really about? Get to the Oakdale Saddle Club Rodeo Grounds Friday morning for PRCA Slack.
Starting at 8 AM, the arena comes alive with some of rodeo’s fastest, toughest timed-event competitors battling the clock in Team Roping, Tie-Down Roping, Steer Wrestling, and Women’s Breakaway Roping.
Slack isn’t a warm-up. This is real competition. These runs count, the money matters, and every second can make the difference between heading home and leaving Oakdale with a paycheck.
It’s also one of the best opportunities of Rodeo Week to experience the sport up close, without the Saturday and Sunday crowds. You’ll hear the ropes snap tight, feel the horses thunder across the arena and see just how much horsepower, precision and guts it takes to compete at this level.

There’s plenty happening beyond the arena. Rodeo vendors and concessionaires will be setting up and open for business throughout Slack from 8 AM–5 PM, so grab something to eat, do a little shopping and soak up a full day at the rodeo grounds.
